New Volunteer Opportunities:
Back Room Receivers / Sorters / Distributers - This position is Monday - Saturday from 10-4 pm and can be broken down into three or four-hour shifts. Must be 17 or older, able to bend and lift approximately 15-30 lbs (with assistance when necessary), Inquire within!
The following volunteer positions are available:
Adoption Counselor: Works in tandem with the Clerical Adoption Counselor, to provide adoption assistance to S.F.A.R. (St. Francis Animal Rescue) customers, with the focus of ensuring that the customer is matched with the appropriate cat for their lifestyle. (4 -5 hour shifts)
Clerical Adoption Counselor: Works in tandem with the Adoption Counselor, to provide adoption assistance to SFAR customers, with the focus of completing all adoption contracts and necessary paperwork accurately. Strong computer skills are necessary. (4 – 5 hour shifts)
Office Receptionist: Responsible for answering phone, taking messages, providing accurate information including referrals if necessary, and computer data entry. Other office tasks as directed. (2 hour shifts)
Thrift Store Cashier: Responsible for providing excellent customer service while manning the cash register at the thrift store. Previous cashier experience is preferred but not required. (2 – 4 hour shifts)
Thrift Store Donation Receiver: Responsible for greeting donors at the back door of the thrift store, accepting donations, and providing receipts to donors. Light cleaning and sorting. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Some lifting may be required. (2-4 hour shifts)
Sanctuary/Permanent Resident Side Cat Socializer: Socializes with the cats that cannot be adopted, clean their litter boxes, fill water bowls, learn each cat’s behavior to see if it has changed, as a behavior change may indicate illness.
Adoption Event Volunteer: Responsible for bringing available animals to off-site adoption events, adoption paperwork, and return of cats to the shelter after the event. (hours vary depending on event)
Foster (Home) Volunteer: Available to house & care for young kittens and/or special needs cats in your home until they are ready for adoption.
Letter writer: Write creative letters from our resident cats to donors who have sponsored in-house adoptions.
Special Events Volunteer: Assist with special events to raise funds for and awareness of S.F.A.R.
Fund Raising Volunteer: Use your fund raising talents to acquire monetary support for S.F.A.R. special events.
